It seemed obvious from the start what the goal of the LCS was. Claim you want a small ship. Then through mission creep, watch as it transforms from the low cost patrol craft to a full on Ship-of-the-line. It looks like we are going in a direction where the LCS is a picket for a ddx/g/1000. But we still aren't being challenged on the high seas since the end of the cold war, so I think this model/direction and resultant LCS is deeply flawed and should be rethought from scratch. I am going to call this post the opening of an LCS thread. Are we going in the right direction with the current designs? What missions do you foresee for this ship?
