It seemed obvious from the start what the goal of the LCS was. Claim you  
want a small ship.
Then through mission creep, watch as it transforms from the low cost patrol  
craft to a full on Ship-of-the-line.
It looks like we are going in a direction where the LCS is a picket for a  
ddx/g/1000.
But we still aren't being challenged on the high seas since the end of the  
cold war, so I think this model/direction and resultant LCS is deeply  
flawed and should be rethought from scratch.
I am going to call this post the opening of an LCS thread.

Are we going in the right direction with the current designs?
What missions do you foresee for this ship?
Is there a definition for this type of ship?
